In Terraria, achievements add an extra layer of challenge and reward to the gameplay. While most achievements are clearly listed in the game, the concept of «hidden» achievements typically refers to those that might not be straightforward or are missed by players during regular gameplay. Here’s a guide to some of Terraria’s achievements that might be considered «hidden» due to their unique or less obvious requirements:
1. Lucky Break
- Description: Survive a long fall with just a sliver of health remaining.
- How to Achieve: This usually happens by accident. A player must survive a fall with very low health remaining, often a single digit. Having low health and accidentally falling a great distance without dying triggers this achievement.
2. No Hobo
- Description: Build a house suitable enough for your first town NPC, such as the Guide, to move into.
- How to Achieve: Players might get this without realizing it as part of setting up their initial base. Ensure the house has all necessary components: a door, a chair, a table, light source, and fully walled backgrounds.
3. Rock Bottom
- Description: Reach the very bottom of the World.
- How to Achieve: Dig your way down to the very bottom of the map until you can’t go any further, where the underworld begins. This is usually the layer where lava becomes very common.
4. Timber!!
- Description: Chop down your first tree.
- How to Achieve: Use an axe to chop down any tree. While simple, it’s a fundamental action new players will accomplish, often leading to their first «hidden» achievement.
5. There are Some Who Call Him…
- Description: Summon and defeat Tim.
- How to Achieve: Tim is a rare skeleton mage NPC that appears occasionally in the underground and cavern layers. He drops the Wizard Hat. Due to his rarity, finding and defeating Tim might come as a surprise achievement to many players.
6. Boned
- Description: Defeat Skeletron, the cursed guardian of the dungeon.
- How to Achieve: Skeletron is summoned by speaking to the Old Man at the dungeon entrance at night and activating the curse. This is required to enter the dungeon without being killed by the Dungeon Guardian.
7. Dungeon Heist
- Description: Steal a key from dungeon’s undead denizens, and unlock one of their precious golden chests.
- How to Achieve: Collect a Golden Key from the Dungeon (dropped by various dungeon enemies or found in pots and chests within the Dungeon), and use it to open a locked Golden Chest in the Dungeon.
8. Star Power
- Description: Craft a mana crystal out of fallen stars, and consume it.
- How to Achieve: Collect 5 fallen stars (which fall at night and disappear after dawn), craft a Mana Crystal, and then use it to increase your mana capacity.
9. Hold on Tight!
- Description: Equip your first grappling hook.
- How to Achieve: You can either craft a grappling hook from 15 gems or iron chains and a hook, or find one in chests. Equipping it for the first time will earn this achievement.
10. Like a Boss
- Description: Obtain a boss-summoning item.
- How to Achieve: Craft or find any item that can summon a boss (e.g., Suspicious Looking Eye, Bloody Spine).
These achievements are part of the fun in discovering all the features and surprises Terraria has to offer. They encourage exploration, experimentation, and a bit of luck as you delve deeper into the game’s expansive world.
